Nesting Therapy
One of the most challenging elements of interior design is working with the objects in our lives that have emotional history, especially when we go through transitions in our lives and objects that were once helpful are now obsolete or even painful reminders. Over the years of working with people in various situations Audrey has found that starting from a place of deep listening, pausing to take ample time to discuss the emotional goals of the space transformation as well as the physical changes desired leads to a much better outcome, and is ultimately the most efficient process. Because of Audrey’s early training in spiritual practice and hospice work, supporting people to process changes in life while also navigating working with the literal material of their lives feels like a natural flow. In fact this dynamic has happened so many times that Audrey has created a service especially about supporting the emotional transitions, that are often the hardest to face alone and also involve substantial changes in our homes as well, like divorce, empty nesting, and grieving the loss of a loved one. Our homes reflect are mental and emotional realities as well and making changes in one area of our lives often connects very deeply to the other. audrey’s is readily available to help people process emotionally while also creating functional actions that can be taken to reflect the changes happening in our lives.
Custom Home Goods
One beautiful way to honor the past can be to make pillows out of fabrics that once meant a lot to us, like clothing from the people we love who have grown up, or passed on. Or taking the drapes from one house and making them into pillows for a new home. these simple momentos can make it easier to move from one physical space or emotional space to another. Audrey is more then happy to explore if having her make something like this for you can be helpful. She is also happy to make you any other custom furniture or cushions for built in window seats etc, that might call to you.
